Epidemic Prescription Drug Abuse and Safe Options, Naturally…Part 2 of 3 – Your Health Detective

Continuing my reporting regarding prescription drug abuse and natural safe nutraceuticals, the list goes on…

Many of you asked for me to explain the various uses of prescription medications for pain, inflammation and muscle-relaxing abilities. The following list isn’t complete but should provide you with information for those drugs most commonly prescribed…Click to continue reading…

RxCodeine and Morphine

Pain relievers are another group of prescription drugs that are commonly abused. They include codeine and morphine – Oramorph and Aviniza contain morphine. Morphine is typically prescribed for severe pain; codeine, for milder pain. Street names for codeine include “Captain Cody” and “Cody.” Slang for morphine includes “M” and “Miss Emma.”

This classification of drugs is not only very addictive, it is very hard on the liver and the intestinal system – causing severe constipation which only adds to the body’s overall toxic load.

Rx OxyContin, Percocet

OxyContin, Percocet, and Percodan share an active ingredient, oxycodone, which is an opioid pain reliever. These drugs aren’t identical; Percocet also contains acetaminophen while Percodan contains aspirin. These drugs should only be taken under medical supervision, and not with alcohol, barbituates, antihistamines, or benzodiazepines – those drug combinations could be life-threatening. Street names include “Oxy,” “O.C.,” and “Oxycotton” for OxyContin and “Percs” for Percocet or Percodan.

Rx Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet

Vicodin, Lortab, and Lorcet contain the opioid hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Opioids can cause drowsiness, constipation, and may depress breathing, depending upon the amount taken.  Vicodin’s street names include “Vike” and “Watson-387,” according to the nonprofit group Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Vicodin, or any other prescription drug, shouldn’t be shared; they’re only for the patient with the prescription.

NRx – These nutraceuticals are only available through health professionals. Keep in mind that natural substances do not work immediately like drugs; you must take them several days to get enough in your body to benefit and reduce pain. In most cases, an individual can continue to take their prescription medication and slowly introduce a natural substance and then begin to slowly reduce the drug – this should only be done under the guidance of a natural health professional. Because all of the above medications deal with pain and inflammation, the nutraceuticals recommended are varied and must be tailored for each patient by a health professional. They are all available from the Health Matters Store at www.gloriagilbere.com. If you don’t see what you need, call us on our toll-free line at 888-352-8175 and our customer service specialist, Sharon, will assist you.

InflamaZyme – supplies amino acids, antioxidants and specialty ingredients for enhanced cellular energy production and fatty acid metabolism. InflamaZyme is very compatible with allopathic chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. An exceptional formula, these enzymes support both a balanced inflammatory response and fibrinolytic (anti-encapsulation) effect while also providing circulatory and immune support.

PainX – a supplement designed to help reduce discomfort associated with acute or chronic inflammatory conditions. It provides natural anti-inflammatory herbs and enzymes to support pain reduction and prompt recovery.

Medizym – a systemic enzyme blend providing healthy support for the body’s healing processes and its natural ability to normalize inflammation. Since the 1950s, more than 200 clinical trials have been performed on systemic enzymes – showing to be truly an alternative solution for inflammation without the side-effects of drugs. It is especially effective for osteoarthritis, sport injury prevention and recovery, support for diabetes, endometriosis, prostatitis, shingles, and dental surgery and procedures. Used for decades by professional athletics.

Personal Note: I don’t know what I would have done without this formula of systemic enzymes during my odyssey with fibromyalgia and the unrelenting pain and inflammation. During acute times I took as many as ten four times a day. They MUST be taken on an empty stomach for full benefit – 45 min. before/after any food; water and herbal teas without anything added are not considered food. They’re the size of an aspirin and easy to swallow.

Inflavonoid – an expertly formulated herbal/botanical blend to provide relief from minor pain while supporting health and repair of healthy muscle tissue. Perfect choice for those whose muscles are impacted by physical stressors (long hours of computer work, etc.), poor posture, and even for those who are inactive. Supports healthy eicosanoids synthesis such as prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes that affect muscle and connective tissues.

Personal Note: Since many days I write at my computer for over 10 hours, I keep my bottle directly on my desk and as soon as my neck, back and shoulder muscles begin to tighten, I take one per hour for 3-4 times and the tightness is gone. It is also very helpful to loose those tight muscles before going to bed, especially helpful for me after a long day of traveling. It is recommended to take one per hour for 3-4 hours to achieve full relief.

SerraFX – a natural enzyme called Serrapeptase, it’s been studied and used for decades in Asia to support normal tissue function and healing, joint mobility, and normal sinus and lung health. Assists in healing disorders where tissue is involved such as in fibromyalgia and injuries.
